Niko's Birthday!

Just wanted to take a minute to travel from Puerto Rico back to Phoenix for Niko's Birthday party. His birthday is Febuary 21 and he turned 10. The party was the week before we left for Puerto Rico. The pinata was was the greatest ever, Sponge Bob Square Pants a favorite Saturday morning cartoon favorite. All the kids got a try, before Sponge Bob cracked up (would you be smiling if you were hit over and over with a bat, I don't think so) and gave up his candy. That sent all the kids scrambling to get their share of the goodies. A great time was had by all, ending with blowing out the candles on Niko's choice, ice cream pie!

Puerto Rico, Aricebo Light House

We spent spring break in Puerto Rico visiting Kirs, Rob, Rowan, Dylan and Amy. When we went to Aricebo the waves were amazing. It was just a little squall, but being a desert rat, I have never seen such huge waves! Rowan would scream with joy and excitment whenever a tall one hit. It was really something!
They had many of the decks closed due to high waves. Just as we were going to head up to the light house, a particularily high wave washed at least 10 feet higher than and over the walkway to the light house! I think that was the highest, but they didn't consider it high enough or maybe often enough to close the walkway.


We're heading back down to play on the ships, the Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria and the pirate ship. When Kirs and Rowan were on the pirate ship she told Rowan about how the pirates had to " swab the poop deck". Rowan got a kick out of that and added "swab the poop deck" to her vast vocabulary of phrases.
